Helotes Ranch Acres is my neighborhood. Once out in the country homes sit on several acres with many, like mine, on top of a hill. Most homes in the neighborhood sit far enough off the street that they can’t be seen. The home sites are generally 1-1/2 acres or more and the neighborhood has no homeowners association.
There are no formal amenities in Helotes Ranch acres and restrictions are minimal. Most farm animals and horses are allowed on the properties (no pigs). Most properties are heavily covered with oak and cedar trees. Some home owners have cleared most of the cedars to allow the oaks to get more rain water and sunlight. That is what I did and I have many new native shrubs and trees coming up.
As home sites are large and because of the out in the country feel home owners see a lot of wildlife. I have seen deer, turkey, foxes, great horned owls, several kinds of hawks and lots of other critters.
Despite the very rural feel, Helotes Ranch Acres is within 10-15 minutes of major shopping, professional services and medical care.
As of today there are two homes listed for sale in Helotes Ranch acres. One is a two story, 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home with 2007 square feet. It is listed for $299,000. The other is a single-story, 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom house with 3,248 square feet. It is listed for $450,000.
